>Working in Kathmandu, Nepal
>I have been working with the Limbu weavers in Kathmandu, Nepal since the second week of September. It has been difficult to get online until recently because I was living in the outskirts of Kathmandu in a place called Gokarna, which is where the weavers live. They do some wonderful weaving, and I have taken many pictures and many videos. The type of weaving they do is called Dhaka weaving and it is a traditional way of weaving. I’m planning on doing a presentation with the material that I have gathered here.
I am enjoying the people and the wonderful views of the mountains here. I have also learned phrases in Nepali, which is the name they use for their language. Tomorrow, I will be going to watch a Buddhist ceremony done by a Tibetan lama, Lama Mipham Rimpoche. I had the good fortune to meet him about a week ago. I was able to talk to him through my translator, Buddha, who has studied Buddhist philosophy for 8 years. During the course of our conversation, he invited me to come see him do a ceremony for a village in a valley south of Kathmandu. The name of the valley is Hetauda, and I was told that the village also goes by that name. I’m very excited to have the chance to go! Hopefully, I’ll be able to get online soon afterwards to post about it.
I have some more work to do today, so I will sign off for now.
