About Me

Heidi Reyes

Anthropologist Photo Essayist, Digital artist focusing on art videos & prints — Multiple disabilities

My training is in Spanish and Anthropology. Over the years, I have tried my hand at various artistic media and have learned about web design as well. I’m currently making digital images for print and also making short art videos. In the early 2000s, I started writing a blog to talk about things that I found interesting from around the web. In the years since then, I’ve changed focus on my blog to showcasing my artwork and my travel photography.

My work is colorful and reflects what I see around me. It is influenced by my bi-cultural Mexican American heritage. I grew up surrounded by color, as my parents bought household goods in Mexico whenever they traveled there. Those items had amazing colors and were decorated with bold designs. When I travel now, I take pictures of things I find interesting and make artwork out of them. When I’m not traveling, I do the same. I want my work to enliven whatever setting it is placed in and to brighten people’s days.
